About me
My life is one of dedication to dance. I am a certified modern dancer.
My own practice Devadasi – Tanz des Herzens, a form of contemporary temple dance that is free of religious affiliation, was born out of an inner necessity to rediscover dance as a spiritual path.
Later I chose the name Infinite.dance as a collective term for my entire artistic work as a dancer, dance teacher, project manager, director, film producer and distributor, tour and event manager and more.
Paramjyoti
Paramjyoti is the name given to me in my several years living for long periods of time in India. It is Sanskrit and means “Supreme Light” or even “the Light behind the Light”. Using this name as a dancer, who makes herself empty and receptive to whatever form the pouring Light, she tunes her heart towards, wants to take this body to become, is quite suiting to my feeling.
My heart ´s calling
Infinite.dance is my heart ´s calling, my life and my full time occupation. Some of my friends began to support me in administration, organisation, promotion, tour- and event management and the endeavour of new projects. This enables me, to focus once again on feeding the inner fire of the movement in order to nourish its continuous research and unfolding as well as following up my activities to dance, provide initiations, coaching, training courses, research dance labs – in short: performing, leading groups and supporting individuals to unfold their own unique expression of dance.
My dream is, that we develop into a dance community which holds and lives the vision of Infinite.dance and its activities.
The dance of my life
I was born and raised in Germany, as the third girl in my family. From a young age I was drawn especially towards the arts. From childhood I began dancing, following the guidance and inspiration of my sister, who brought me to my first true dance teacher. Karin Hermes-Sunke could teach me dance beyond the physical realm.
After graduating from my dance study in AHK Amsterdam/Netherlands, with the Diploma for Modern Dance, I further engaged in studies in meditation, spiritual practice and energy work. I graduated from BPI Berkeley/California as Referent C. Stieber in the United States. At “Center of Unity – Schweibenalp” in Switzerland I learned Puja service in the tradition of Haidakhan Babaji, holding Aarati for Shiva and the Divine Mother.
I have been continuously working on research towards my own expression in dance, as well as holding public performances and counselings. A deep yearning in me, made me actually invent „Devadasi – Dance of the Heart“, my practice of sacred dance in February 2002. Ever since I share this continuously unfolding art with people. Bridging different cultures, spiritual groups and human hearts, and strengthening the connection between the soul and its source, is a matter dear to my heart.
Between 2004 and 2011 I used to live half of the year in India. My base there is in M.P., close to Khajuraho, a city famous for its historical temples and internationally known dance festivals. I have been invited to participate within these cultural programs, such as Shilpgram dance festival.
A couple of years I had an own center for my work in Bavaria. After that once again I served for several years in the temple of “Center of Unity”, a community, seminar house and ashram. Those years taught me much about living in community. Finally I started my film project “Moving into the Infinite”. I became director, producer, distributor and even the tour manager for a „Event Cinema Tour“ through the German art house scenery. The tour took about half a year and counted about 90 events.
